Boil the Pasta
In a large pot, boil the pasta in salted water. When the pasta is done, reserve 1 cup pasta water, then drain.
Melt the Butter
In the empty pot, add the butter. Once the butter is melted, add any vegetables or protein of choice, lemon zest, and pepper.
Allow the vegetables and protein to cook through while the fresh cracked pepper toasts.
Add the Pasta
Add the pasta back into the pot with a ½ cup of the reserved pasta water.
Stir in the Cheese
Turn the heat to low, then stir in the freshly grated cheese until it coats the pasta in a silky smooth sauce. If the pasta seems dry, add more pasta water.
