Ingredients

  • oranges or clementines
  • blue corn tortilla chips
  • nacho cheese tortilla chips
  • baby carrots
  • orange bell peppers
  • chocolate covered pretzels milk or dark chocolate
  • chocolate covered almonds milk or dark chocolate
  • black grapes
  • caramels
  • blueberries
  • blackberries

Instructions

  • Choose a board, platter, or tray that is large enough to hold all the snacks you want to add. Keep in mind the number of people you are serving and the size of the snacks.
  • Arrange the snacks on the board. If using small bowls to hold smaller items, place those down on the board first. Once the bowls are added, arrange larger items on the board (oranges, chips, carrots) and work your way down to adding the smallest items last (blueberries, almonds, blackberries). Fill the bowls with any small items that might get lost on the board.
  • Try to fill the board as much as possible. An over-crowded board will look better than one with lots of empty space. Also, try to alternate colors and add the same snacks to different sides of the board so there is more of a flow between all the different options.
  • If adding chips and vegetables to the board, serve with dips, cheeses, or homemade hummus.

Storage

  • To store: Certain items on the board will need to be kept refrigerated until ready to serve, while others will get soggy if kept in the refrigerator. You can cut and prep the snacks ahead of time but keep all items separate until the day you plan to serve.
If you have leftover snacks after serving, deconstruct the board and store snacks individually in airtight containers or plastic bags. Keep fresh produce, cheeses, meats, and dips in the refrigerator and pantry snacks on the counter or in the pantry.
To freeze: Freezing is not recommended.

Notes

  1. Get creative with whatever you can find at the grocery store. The ingredients listed above are only the beginning! There are SO many other delicious foods that can be included.
  2. There aren't any ingredient amounts given because this will vary depending on the size and shape of your board, as well as the number of people you are serving.
  3. If you'd like a protein-packed board, you can make a charcuterie board instead with meats (prosciutto, salami) and cheeses (cheddar, gouda).
  4. Orange foods may also include: cantaloupe, cheese crackers, cheddar cheese, salami, m&ms, skittles, starbursts, apricots, peaches, candy corn, and many others.
  5. Black foods may include: black licorice, figs, dates, purple carrots, plums, purple bell peppers, oreos, olives, and many others.
  6. See the "A Few Additional Tips" section in the post above for more tips and tricks on how to successfully assemble a snack board.
