Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup 100% pure pumpkin puree
  • ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice*

Instructions

  • Whisk together water, sugar, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin pie spice in a medium saucepan.
  • Set saucepan on the stove over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 3 minutes, or until the sugar is fully dissolved and becomes a syrup-like consistency.
  • Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve.
  • Let syrup cool. Use in cocktails, coffee drinks, on top of pancakes, or in desserts. Store syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 1 week.

Notes

  1. You don't have to strain the syrup, but it does make it a lot smoother.
  2. *If you don't have pre-made pumpkin pie spice, combine 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, ¾ teaspoon ground ginger, ¾ teaspoon ground nutmeg, ½ teaspoon ground allspice, and ½ teaspoon ground cloves. Use only ½ teaspoon for this recipe and reserve the rest for later.
