    📋 About the Recipe

Once you make pizza rolls from scratch, you’ll never buy frozen totinos pizza rolls again! These are airy, doughy, and filled with all the best pizza toppings from spicy pepperonis to creamy mozzarella cheese!

Even better, you can truly make them however you like. If you want them to be vegetarian, simply leave out the meat. If you want extra cheese, just add more than what the recipe calls for. And if you want bbq chicken pizza rolls, instead of traditional, simply swap the sauce and meat.

Homemade air fryer pizza rolls are quick, easy, and include minimal cleanup! It’s one of the best air fryer recipes out there, along with these healthy and delicious air fryer crab cakes! Plus, they’re way healthier than any store bought kind. Golden brown and crisp on the outside with warm, cheesy dough on the inside. It really can’t get any better!

Looking to make a traditional pizza instead? Try this mushroom, sausage, and arugula pizza!

    🛒 Ingredients

Labelled ingredients (see recipe for details).

A few notes about the ingredients:

    1. I always like to use fresh cheeses and shred them myself in order to get perfectly gooey melty cheese. You can use pre-shredded mozzarella but it might not melt as well because of the added anti-caking agents that prevent it from clumping together. The choice is up to you.
    2. If you stuff the dough with veggies, always lightly sauté them before rolling them in the dough so that they fully cook through when air fried.
    3. The Italian seasoned olive oil mixture for brushing over the dough is optional.

    📓 Instructions

If making homemade pizza dough, prepare it according to the recipe instructions.

Pizza dough separated into 8 balls on a dark plate.

Separate the pizza dough into 8 to 10 equal parts. Roll each part into a ball, then roll it out flat.

4 flattened balls of dough on a piece of parchment paper.

Spread about ½ tablespoon of pizza sauce into the center of each circle of dough. Top each with 2 to 3 pepperonis (if using) or any other vegetables or meat.

4 flattened rounds of dough with sauce and pepperonis on top.

Add 1 tablespoon of mozzarella cheese on top.

2 flattened doughs with all the toppings and 2 rolled balls of dough with the toppings inside.

Fold the sides of the dough around the fillings so all the ends meet. Pinch them together.

Gently roll the dough into a ball, keeping the filling and sauce inside. Continue the process with the rest of the rolls.

Raw pizza rolls brushed with olive oil and herbs in the air fryer basket.

Spray your air fryer basket with nonstick spray. Then place the rolls inside. The dough will expand so give them space. You might need to cook them in batches.

Combine olive oil, oregano, basil, garlic powder, parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Brush the tops of the rolls with the mixture.

Cook the rolls at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes. They should come out perfectly golden brown.

    🔍 FAQs

How do you air fry frozen pizza rolls?

I encourage you to try this homemade pizza roll recipe, but if you have frozen on hand, you can simply fry them up and enjoy in minutes. Place 1 bag of frozen pizza rolls in the basket of your air fryer. Cook at 380 degrees F for 4 minutes, then remove and shake the basket. Place the basket back in and cook another 3 minutes.

How do you store pizza rolls?

Generally, they are best when eaten fresh and hot. However, if you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. To heat them up, place them back in the air fryer to crisp up and heat them until warmed through at 350 degrees F for about 5 minutes.

Can I make these in the oven instead?

Sure can! If you'd prefer to make these in the oven, preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Follow all the instructions, but place the pizza rolls on a sheet pan covered with parchment paper. Bake the rolls for about 15 to 20 minutes or until they’re golden brown and no longer pale or doughy.

    💭 One More Tip

If you feel adventurous, you can swap out the pizza sauce for pesto, alfredo, or even bbq sauce! Stuff the pizza dough with whatever fixings sound best. Cooked chicken? Sure! Sun dried tomatoes? Yum! Roasted garlic? How delicious! Feel free to experiment and let me know how you did!
