With this one simple 10-ingredient salad dressing, you can completely elevate ANY dish! This Citrus Herb Balsamic Vinaigrette is versatile and bursting with flavor from fresh citrus juice (oranges, lemons, AND limes!) and fresh herbs. It is bright, flavorful and instantly upgrades any salad, roasted veggie (like these super simple Green Beans and Carrots), meats, and more!
Similar to this Cilantro Lime Chicken Marinade, this dressing can also be used as a delicious chicken marinade. Just let the chicken soak up the flavor for a few hours, pop it on the grill, and enjoy the bright flavors.

I like to think this herb dressing is magic - it's THAT good! It perfectly balances sweet, tart, and savory flavors. The citrus juices bring light freshness, while the fresh herbs bring complexity and depth. I use it on this Green Bean and Butternut Squash Salad but it really pairs well with almost anything!
It's also SO easy to make, there is just one simple step: add all the ingredients into a bowl and mix. And because it is homemade, you can easily customize and adjust the flavors according to your family's tastes!
My number one suggestion? Make sure to use a white balsamic vinegar, instead of the traditional dark balsamic. White balsamic has a more mild flavor and a lighter color, making it a better option for both taste and looks. I use it in this fall-inspired Pumpkin Dressing too and it just isn't the same if you used the traditional balsamic. If you can’t find white balsamic, you can use a champagne vinegar or another white wine vinegar. And if you truly can't live without traditional balsamic, my creamy and flavorful Maple Balsamic Dressing may be perfect for you instead!
Ingredients
Instructions
- Step 1: Add all ingredients to a bowl. Whisk to combine.
⭐️ Quick Tip! Fresh herbs are best for this recipe! If you don't want to buy both dill and thyme, you can pick just one and add 2 tablespoons total.
My Top Tips!
⭐️ While store-bought, pre-squeezed juices are convenient, they just don’t taste the same as fresh juice. Fresh citrus juice is key to making this a bright and flavorful recipe!
⭐️ And same goes for dried herbs, they definitely have their place in some recipes, but for this salad dressing, fresh are definitely best!
