Why You'll Love These Push Up Popsicles
- So nostalgic! Transport yourself to childhood summer days spent outside, listening for the songs of the neighborhood ice cream truck with these homemade push up popsicles. They're just like the ones you used to buy from the truck with homemade rainbow sherbet flavors (raspberry, orange, and lime). If you are looking for more nostalgic ideas, try these homemade spaghettios, gogurts, and dinosaur chicken nuggets too!
- Healthy frozen treat! These push up popsicles are made with frozen fruit, greek yogurt, and agave for a lighter dessert or snack that still packs a punch of flavor.
- Added protein! The addition of full-fat greek yogurt makes these popsicles extra creamy, but it also adds protein which makes these an even more satisfying treat.
- Minimal prep time! No cooking or cutting necessary! Just throw the frozen fruit, yogurt, and agave into your food processor or blender, then spoon the mixture into your push up popsicle molds. It's that easy!
Ingredients
A few notes about the ingredients:
- Frozen Raspberries and Frozen Mangoes: Frozen fruit helps in making the popsicles extra creamy. By blending the fruit, you get a nice thick ice cream base that makes these popsicles easy to layer by flavor.
- Plain Greek Yogurt: Plain, unsweetened greek yogurt is best. I also recommend full-fat, whole milk, or 5% milkfat greek yogurt for an even creamier popsicle.
- Lime Greek Yogurt: A high-quality lime greek yogurt is best for flavor and texture. I used Chobani, but you can use any brand you like.
- Agave: Agave is fairly neutral in flavor to help the fruit flavors shine through. However, in a pinch, you can use pure maple syrup or honey for sweetness as well.

Instructions
- Step 1: Start by making the lemon raspberry flavor: In a food processor, add frozen raspberries, greek yogurt, lemon juice, and agave. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Step 2: Using a small spoon, spoon the raspberry mixture into the push pop popsicle molds, only filling each one ⅓ of the way up.
- Step 3: Place in the freezer to set while you wash and dry the food processor, or for at least 30 minutes and up to 4 hours.
- Step 4: Make the orange mango flavor by adding frozen mango, greek yogurt, orange, and agave to the food processor. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Step 5: Using a small spoon, spoon the mango mixture into the push pop popsicle molds on top of the raspberry mixture, filling each one by another ⅓ of the way up.
- Step 6: Place in the freezer to set for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours.
- Step 7: For the lime flavor, add lime greek yogurt, lime juice, and agave to a bowl. Mix to combine.
- Step 8: Using a small spoon, spoon the lime mixture into the push pop popsicle molds on top of the mango mixture, filling each one to the top.
- Step 9: Place in the freezer to set for at least 4 hours or overnight.
⭐️ Tip: Make sure to blend all the fruit until completely smooth and creamy! Chunky mixtures will result in icier, chunkier popsicles.
Substitutions and Alterations
- Frozen Raspberries and Frozen Mangoes - You can use other frozen fruits instead. Blueberries, strawberries, and pineapple would all be great substitutions. I do not recommend using fresh fruit, as it will make the mixture watery, then icy and hard when frozen.
- Agave - I like agave because it is neutral in flavor. However, pure maple syrup and honey would work as well.
How to Store Homemade Push Up Popsicles
To store: Store push up popsicles in the freezer up to 6 months.
Top tip!
Make sure each layer is mostly frozen before adding the next one. If you add a layer too soon, they will blend together and become a murky color.
Usually, 30 minutes is enough time for the layers to set, but you can also leave these homemade push up popsicles in the freezer for about 4 hours in between the addition of each layer.
Then, cover the finished popsicles and store up to 6 months.
Recipe FAQs
No, push up popsicles are still being made and sold today. However, they might have a different name, brand, or look!
Mainly, I've found that they're primarily orange flavored and some are called "Gliders" instead of "Push Ups."
Yes, most brands of these popsicles contain dairy. These healthier remakes also contain dairy in the greek yogurt.
If you're looking for a dairy free alternative, you can use vegan or dairy free yogurts, but the popsicles might be a little less creamy.

Notes
- *I recommend using full fat greek yogurt for perfectly creamy popsicles. Using nonfat greek yogurt will result in icier, harder popsicles.

Usually, 30 minutes is enough time for the layers to set, but you can also leave these homemade push up popsicles in the freezer for about 4 hours in between the addition of each layer.
