🛒 Ingredients
A few notes about the ingredients:
- Fresh strawberries and bananas: I like to use fresh berries and bananas, since frozen fruit tends to add more moisture.
- Pure maple syrup: Adds a light sweetness to the yogurt, which is definitely recommended if you're using greek yogurt, since it can sometimes taste bitter. Make sure to buy pure maple syrup, not pancake syrup!
- Plain yogurt: Feel free to use plain greek or regular yogurt. Just opt for an unsweetened kind. I like to use greek yogurt for it's added protein, which keeps me fuller longer!
⁉️ Substitutions and Alterations
- Berries: Instead of strawberries, you can use raspberries or blueberries.
- Don't like bananas? You can leave them out and add in a few extra strawberries.
- Dairy free? Use a plant based, dairy free yogurt!
- Sugar free? Leave out the maple syrup. However, the yogurt might be a bit tart.
📓 Instructions
- Add strawberries, bananas, maple syrup, and vanilla extract to a blender. Blend until completely smooth.
- Scoop yogurt into a large mixing bowl. Add the strawberry banana puree and mix to combine.
- Using a funnel, spoon the yogurt into the zip-top tubes.
- Enjoy as a healthy breakfast or snack. Store in the refrigerator up to 1 week.
❄️ How to Store
To store: Store sealed homemade gogurts in the refrigerator up to 1 week.
To freeze: Just like classic gogurts, you can freeze this homemade version too. If preferred, store in the freezer up to 3 months.
Serving suggestion: For kid's lunches, store these strawberry banana gogurts in the freezer and add them to your kid's lunchbox in the morning. By lunchtime, they should be defrosted to a yogurt-like consistency.
🔍 Recipe FAQs
Store-bought gogurts contain lots of added sugar and artificial ingredients. These homemade ones allow you to stay in control of the sweetness, as well as adding protein from greek yogurt and extra vitamins and fiber from fresh fruit.
You can try this if you'd like. However, I was afraid blending it all together would make the yogurt too runny, which is why I simply stir the puree into the yogurt instead.
💭 One More Tip
Use a sturdy funnel with a larger hole to fill the tube-shaped zip top bags! If the yogurt doesn't go through the hole easily, find a larger one or use a spoon to swirl it in the funnel until it forces it's way through the funnel.

How many cups of fruit does this end up being? I want to try more of like an orange creamsicle flavor but looking to see the overall fruit to yogurt cups ratio

I'm not exactly sure because it depends if you're just using orange juice or orange segments. If using segments, I'd estimate using 24 segments (just like the strawberries), but oranges are higher in juice content so the yogurt may turn out runnier.
