- Simple pantry ingredients! Just like any other classic granola recipe, these granola cups use simple pantry ingredients, like oats, coconut, almonds, brown sugar, coconut oil, and salt. Ingredients
A few notes about the ingredients:
- Oats: Old fashioned oats are the only kind I'd recommend for this. Quick cooking oats would get too soft and steel cut oats would be too hard.
- Unsweetened Coconut: You can use sweetened coconut, but the granola may become too sweet for your liking. Since you need the recommended amount of brown sugar and maple syrup to help bind the dry ingredients together, I recommend using unsweetened coconut as well to keep the sweetness in balance.
- Raw Almonds: I like buying the whole raw almonds and chopping them myself. However, if you're short on time you can add sliced almonds to a zip top bag and hit them with a mallet or rolling pin to break them into small pieces.
- Brown Sugar and Maple Syrup: Both of these sweeteners help bind the dry ingredients together and hold the bowl shape. They also add a nice sweetness to the granola that helps to compliment the tanginess of the greek yogurt.
- Coconut Oil: Melted coconut oil is recommended since it is neutral in flavor. However, you can use any other neutral flavored oil instead. Olive oil is not recommended due to its strong flavor.

Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Spray a muffin pan with nonstick spray.
- Step 2: Add all ingredients besides yogurt and berries in a medium bowl. Mix to combine.
- Step 3: Add ¼ cup of the granola mixture to each muffin cup in the pan. Use your fingers to press oats along the sides to make a bowl shape.
- Step 4: Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool for 30 minutes before removing granola cups from the pan.
- Step 5: Fill the center with yogurt and top with fresh berries or fruit of choice.
⭐️ Tip: An unsweetened, plain greek yogurt pairs well with the sweetness of the granola cups. However, if you find the yogurt to be too tart, you can also drizzle the tops of the berries with honey or additional maple syrup for a touch of added sweetness.
Substitutions and Alterations
- Melted Coconut Oil - If you don't have coconut oil, you can use another neutral flavored oil (like avocado oil). Olive oil is not recommended because its flavor is too strong.
- Raw Almonds - Mostly any other raw nuts should work, like chopped pecans, walnuts, or cashews.
- Greek Yogurt - Other plain or flavored yogurts, ice cream, custard, or mousse are all great substitutes! You can even use a no bake cheesecake filling to fill in the cups.
- Berries - Any fresh fruit would work well. You can also top with apple preserves or compote.
- To make them gluten free - For gluten free granola cups, just make sure to use gluten free old fashioned oats.
- To make them dairy free - These granola cups are made naturally dairy free. Just use a plant based yogurt for the filling!
- To make them vegan - These are also naturally vegan, but again just make sure to use a plant based yogurt for the filling!
How to Store Homemade Granola Cups
To store: Store baked granola cups in an airtight container on the counter for up to 5 days. Make sure to keep the yogurt, berries, and granola separate so the cups don't get soggy.
To freeze: Freezing is not recommended.
Top tip!
Make sure to let the granola cups cool for a full 30 minutes before trying to remove them from the muffin pan! This will allow them to harden and keep their shape. If they're not cool when you try to remove them, they will still be slightly wet and crumble into pieces.
